SUMMARY:Bolt Action: Hello to 3rd Edition Tournament
DESCRIPTION:We will be using the Bolt Action 3rd Edition rules for this tournament.\nTournament Schedule\n09:00-9:30 Enrollment\n09:30-11:30 Game 1\nLunch break\n12:30-14:30 Game 2\n14:45-16:45 Game 3\n17:00 Prize Ceremony\nTournament Rules\n\nFORCES\nPlayers lists will consist of 1100pts chosen from the Core Platoon\nSelectors in the V3 Rules Book Page 182, Max 18 order dice.\nMiniatures must be WYSIWG (What you see is what\nyou get), except for ‘counts as’ for thematic/artistic reasons, which you\nmust get approval for before the day.\n– Suggested items to bring, Rule book V3, Army book, Objective markers, Order\ndice, D6, Tape Measure.\nPlease take extra care if you are using an army builder app, as they\nmay contain errors and will not be geared to build towards the event format. Please\nsubmit earlier, if possible, to give yourselves more time to correct any errors.\nGAME TIME\nAfter two hours of gameplay, the players must finish the current\nturn, and then the game ends automatically.\nARMY LIST\nThe players must write down the army list they are going to use\nfor the duration of the entire tournament. They must leave a\ncopy of their list to the referee before the start of the\ntournament or by email at ba***********@***il.com no later\nthan November 10th 2024.\nThe force list is public, and the opponent can always look at it and ask\nyou questions about your force.\nMATCH-UPS\nThe matchups of Game 1 will be random. In the following games\nplayers will be matched using Tournament Points (TP) and\nCasualty points, as explained below.\nSCENARIOS\nThe following scenarios will be played, as per the 3\nrd\nEdition Rules Book. Please do not move the terrain that\nhas been pre-set by the organisers.\nGame 1: Scenario: Key Positions, Zone: Long Edges, Deployment: Meeting\nEngagement.\nGame 2: Scenario: Hold Until Relieved, Zone: Quarters, Deployment: Fog of War.\nGame 3: Scenario: Breakthrough, Zone: Long Edge, Deployment: Prepared\nPositions.\nTOURNAMENT POINTS (TP)\nVictory is calculated as described in the Scenarios being played\nand Tournament points are awarded for victories, defeats, and\ndraws as shown below:\nResult Tournament Points\nVictory 3 TP\nDraw 1 TP\nLoss 0 TP\nIn addition, players must also record how many Order Dice of\nenemy units they destroy during their games. These destroyed\nenemy units (let’s call them ‘Casualty points’) are always added\ntogether in a running total and are used as a tiebreaker to pair\nplayers that are on the same level of Tournament points. From\nthe start of the second round, players will be paired using a\nSwiss system (i.e., matching players on the same number of\nTPs, in descending order).\nIn case of more than two players on the same number of TPs,\nplayers will be matched in descending ‘Casualty points’ total. If\nthey have the same TP and Casualty points total, players will\nbe paired in alphabetic order.\nWhen two players that have already met in a previous turn are\nmatched to play each other again, they must randomly select\nopponents from the players on the next table down. This rule\ndoes\nnot apply on the top tables during the last turn of the\ntournament.\nWINNING THE TOURNAMENT\nThe winner is determined at the end of the last round,\naccording to the following criteria:\n• The player with the most TP will be the winner.\n• In case of same TP at the top, the winner will be the\nplayer with the highest Casualty points total.\n• In case of same Casualty points total, we’ll see if the\nplayers have played each other during the tournament and\nthe winner will be the winner of such match.\n• If the players never met in the tournament, the\ntournament ends with a joint victory and the players\nshare the first prize.\n“Wait a second! We both have US forces! Surely, we cannot\nfight one another?!” or “A note on historicity”.\nThis Tournament has a very relaxed attitude and\nbasically, encourage the idea of simply collecting a force you like\nand turn up for a few games with friends, where we suspend\ndisbelief and enjoy the game without trying to make it\n‘historically plausible’. If you need to explain to yourself why, for\nexample, these Germans are fighting against other Germans,\nthere are several ways of looking at it: you can either assume it\nis just an exercise, part of a massive set of manoeuvres, or a\n‘what if’ scenario depicting a hypothetical confrontation between\ndifferent factions of the same country (easier to imagine with\nsome belligerent nation’s forces than others…).\nContact\nPlease email ba***********@***il.com for any questions, comments, or concerns.\n
